Heartfelt Memories

Better or worse
Before all goes bad
Take all my memories
And paint them all plaid

Look at my face
and turn to discuss
the follies and lessons
I gave in with trust

I see it
I do
I am the elephant
Who trusts
And never gives in
Wrap that around
And paint it all thin

However do know
The time here is slow
No one forgives
Begin and begin

This is my response to a challenge from the ImaginaryGarden with Real Toads to find my inner animal.

  1. I am the elephant
    Who trusts
    And never gives in
    Wrap that around
    And paint it all thin..

Excellent phrasing, and the elephant is known for its strength too.

  2. Elephants are fascinating creatures. All that power and with memory to go back to their dead. And rather thick skinned. Your last 2 lines are rather haunting.

  3. Very well put. Very.

  4. Beware of that elephant's memory!

  5. take all my memories and paint them all this line. There is much in life I have forgiven but I cannot is the "elephant in me" Great job!!

  6. Much to reflect on in your poem. Thank you.

  7. Invent plaid paint, and you could be a millionaire! LOL

  8. Jinksy, I think plaid paint has already been invented in the form of wall paper. I'll keep my own memories painted just the way they are. Thank you very much.

  9. I love this - it has a wonderful lilt to it......the elephant and then "paint it all thin" - very clever poem.
